Air Tanzania expands African network with new flights to South Africa
In a strategic move to broaden its African network, Air Tanzania will launch direct flights to Johannesburg, South Africa, beginning 30 November 2024. This new route will offer four weekly flights from Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania’s economic hub, using Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft. With 181 seats, including 16 in Business Class and 165 in Economy, the airline aims to serve both business and leisure travellers, providing convenience and comfort.
This expansion introduces nearly 3,000 monthly seats in each direction, enhancing travel options between Tanzania and South Africa. Air Tanzania joins Airlink as one of only two airlines serving this route, offering travellers greater choice and boosting connectivity across the continent. The addition of this Johannesburg route strengthens Air Tanzania’s role in African aviation, supporting its regional growth ambitions and fostering trade and tourism links across Africa.
