Air Tanzania is set to introduce a new direct route between Dar es Salaam and Kinshasa, commencing 26 March 2025, with four weekly flights operated by the Airbus A220-300. The service aims to improve accessibility between Tanzania’s key commercial hub and the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s capital, enhancing business, trade, and tourism links. The airline’s expansion aligns with growing demand for direct intra-African connectivity, reducing travel time for business travellers, government officials, and tourists exploring both regions.

The new route is expected to support economic growth by facilitating trade between Tanzania—positioned as a gateway to the Indian Ocean—and the DRC, an important market rich in natural resources. In tourism, the service provides easier access to wildlife destinations such as Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kilimanjaro alongside gorilla trekking experiences in DRC’s Virunga National Park. As African airlines continue to expand intra-continental routes, Air Tanzania’s move strengthens regional mobility and aligns with broader efforts such as the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) to enhance seamless travel across the continent.
