Air Peace to Commence Lagos-Gatwick Flights on March 30
Air Peace, Nigeria's flagship carrier, announced it will start direct flights from Lagos to London's Gatwick Airport on March 30th, 2024. Air Peace spokesperson Stanley Olisa confirmed the new international route on Tuesday.
The announcement comes a month after Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo met with UK officials to facilitate direct Lagos-London flights. In late January, Keyamo engaged with NORSE Atlantic Airways' CEO about a potential partnership with Air Peace.
Although Air Peace secured a permit to fly to the UK in November 2023, it has faced challenges obtaining slots at Gatwick Airport. Air Peace COO Oluwatoyin Olajide said slot allocation has been the main hurdle preventing the airline from starting London flights after meeting all other UK requirements. At January's meeting, the NORSE CEO said his airline is ready to partner with Air Peace once final authorisation is granted for flights to Gatwick.
