Namibia’s government has confirmed plans to relaunch Air Namibia between June and December 2026, following the completion of a market study and public-private partnership process. According to presidential spokesperson Alfredo Hengari, preparations include finalising a feasibility study by June 2025 and securing expressions of interest for investment by August 2026. The relaunch aims to reestablish a national carrier to boost connectivity and national pride.

The initiative has been endorsed by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, who has prioritised the airline’s revival. A N$20 million allocation has been made through the Ministry of Works and Transport to support the feasibility study. If successful, the new version of Air Namibia could contribute meaningfully to regional air access and support Namibia’s tourism and trade goals within Southern Africa.
