Air Madagascar Name Returns as Airline Rebuilds Network
Madagascar Airlines is set to revert to its original name, Air Madagascar, from 31 October 2026, as the national carrier continues efforts to rebuild its domestic, regional and international operations. The airline was established in 2021 through the restructuring of Air Madagascar and the integration of regional carrier Tsaradia.
Regional rebuilding is already under way, with the resumption of the Antananarivo - Mahajanga - Moroni route on 30 July, operating twice weekly using an ATR 72-500. The airline has also entered a codeshare agreement with Mayotte-based Ewa Air, an Air Austral subsidiary, providing connections between Mayotte and Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Mahajanga and Nosy Be, as well as Moroni via Mayotte. To support further expansion, the carrier plans to lease at least one long-haul and one medium-haul aircraft in addition to its current ATR fleet.
