World Travel Market (WTM) Africa, the continent's top B2B event for inbound and outbound travel, kicks off today, 10th April, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Over 9,500 pre-scheduled meetings and 7,000 delegates from more than 100 countries are expected at WTM Africa, fostering trade, networking, and deal-making opportunities within the tourism industry.

Cape Town, a partner since 2014, has seen significant growth in visitor numbers and economic benefits due to Africa Travel Week. Alderman JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, reaffirmed the city's commitment through a three-year agreement to support the event until 2025.

Since its inception, WTM Africa has hosted over 18,000 exhibitors, generated over 17,000 jobs, and brought an estimated R200 million in foreign direct spending to Cape Town's economy. The event is estimated to facilitate business deals worth $450 million annually.

Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, highlighted the importance of WTM Africa in creating tourism-related job opportunities.

Cape Town will use the event to showcase initiatives that attract international visitors and promote economic growth by engaging with industry organisations and media.
