Acacia Africa Opens Adventure Tours to Families with Teen Explorers
Acacia Africa has lowered its minimum age requirement, now welcoming families with 16- and 17-year-olds on its Adventure Camping and Adventure Accommodated Tours. Following this change, families can now share the magic of Southern and East Africa together, with access to all 81 of the specialist’s overland itineraries.
Tapping into the rise of nostalgia-driven travel, the move is expected to be especially meaningful for millennial parents, many of whom travelled with Acacia in their twenties.
Arno Delport, Sales & Marketing Manager at Acacia Africa, comments, “We’re seeing more and more past overlanders coming back to book our Small Group Safaris, but being able to relive the overland experience and revisit the same destinations with their teens in tow will be a real full-circle moment."
Unlike traditional family tours, Acacia’s Adventure Tours are hands-on and highly social. Guests take part in camp set-up and daily routines, creating a strong group dynamic that naturally encourages connection, particularly between parents and teens. With an experienced guide and driver handling logistics, families can focus on the journey itself, without everyday distractions.
Delport comments, “There’s a growing desire for meaningful shared experiences before kids leave for university or fly the nest. Africa delivers that in a powerful way. Its raw landscapes and unforgettable moments create space for real connection, whether it’s a first-time visit or a return to familiar ground. For many repeat travellers, coming back to Africa feels less like a trip and more like a homecoming.”
