2027 ATW Media Awards open for entries across five categories
Entries are now open for the 2027 ATW Media Awards, which recognise outstanding journalism, photography and digital content covering African travel and tourism. Work published or broadcast between 1 January and 31 December 2026 is eligible across five categories: Sustainability Feature, Visual Tourism, Tourism News, Destination Feature, and Young Talent - the latter open to writers, photographers and digital creators under the age of 25. Only one submission per category will be accepted, and the deadline for entries is Friday, 15 January 2027.
The awards are run by Africa Travel Week, which encompasses WTM Africa and ILTM Africa, and are judged by a panel of leading travel editors, journalists and photographers to be announced in due course. Judging criteria vary by category but broadly assess storytelling quality, research depth, creative presentation, accuracy and impact on audiences. Entries can be submitted at africatravelweek.com, with nominations also accepted. The awards provide a platform for both established media professionals and emerging voices shaping the conversation around African tourism.
