Just a few years ago, Etosha Heights was something else entirely—a patchwork of cattle farms and hunting concessions, divided by fences and defined by what it could give, not what it could be.

As part of vaccination and sterilization outreach initiative in November 2021, we worked together with the Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS) and Botswana Predator Conservation Trust to vaccinate village dogs in order to protect the African Wild Dog population.

The iconic Jack’s Camp in the Makgadikgadi, Botswana is to be rebuilt by and will reopen with a luxurious new look in May 2020 to celebrate the camp’s 25th anniversary. The new look Jack’s will feature ten spacious safari tents, almost double the size of the existing tents, with an interior floor area of 130m2. The tents will retain the same traditional dark green exterior canvas and iconic interior lining. Furnished with antiques that have been passed down through generations of the Bousfield family, the new larger guest tents will each have their own miniature natural history museum, each one a cabinet of extraordinary curiosities ranging from stone tools to fossils, all collected and curated by Bousfield himself.

2020 will see the launch of Natural Selection’s new flying safaris to Angola. Natural Selection is raising money for its COVID-19 Village Support Program through an art auction taking place on Facebook on the 20th of May. Up for grabs is a custom picture by South African artist Jemima Sargent. Those who have visited Natural Selection’s Lekkerwater Beach Lodge and Hoanib Valley Camp will be familiar with her work which decorates the camps.

New for 2020, Natural Selection will be launching scheduled flying safaris to Namibia. The six-night journeys will offer guests a weekly departure every Sunday to experience this extraordinary landscape from the skies. Guests will stay at Natural Selection’s award-winning, eco-conscious safari camps and discover the fauna, flora and culture of Namibia with Natural Selection’s expert guides.

As Namibia opens its borders to international travellers, so Natural Selection have opened the doors to their newest property, Kwessi Dunes. The new property is set in the heart of the vast 215,000 hectare NamibRand Nature Reserve, with easy access to Sossusvlei’s iconic rusty red sand dunes and the photogenic Deadvlei.

After decades of setting the standard in the Kalahari, the iconic Jack’s Camp in Botswana has undergone a full rebuild and has reopened with a luxurious new look. Rebuilt during 2020, the brand-new Jack’s Camp pays homage to the property’s enduring and much-loved 1940s campaign style.

Natural Selection have opened their first properties in Namibia. Hoanib Valley Camp and Shipwreck Lodge are situated in the rugged and remote northwestern region of the country and both opened in June 2018. Combining the two camps offers safari goers an in-depth experience in one of the most startling landscapes on the continent, far from the normal tourist track.
