Overview

Savanna Private Game Reserve prides itself on delivering exceptional safaris, with the emphasis being on game viewing. Located in the Sabi Sand, this exclusive 5* lodge promises to deliver exceptional levels of personal service and great attention to detail.

Savanna has nine beautifully appointed suites. The thatched Savanna Suite consists of two separate en-suite bedrooms, each with their own deck and heated plunge pools. These rooms lead into a central elegantly furnished lounge, ideal for families or a small group wanting privacy and exclusivity.

Seven of the nine suites offer a unique blend of “Out of Africa” romance with the convenience of every modern facility. They have Bedouin-styled draped ceilings below tented roofs, set on permanent structures for privacy, security and comfort.

All Suites are the epitome of elegance and comfort. All suites have WIFI, air-conditioning, fans, en-suite bathrooms, inside and outdoor showers, mini bars, coffee machines, deck and private heated plunge pools.

The Main Lodge consists of a gym, safari shop, bar, wine cellar, dining area, loft library and a spacious patio looking over the pool and indigenous gardens to one of 5 waterholes that surround the lodge and offer fantastic views of game drinking and bathing.

The villages surrounding the Sabi Sand suffer from incredibly high rates of unemployment, limited access to quality healthcare support and opportunities to overcome poverty are scarce. Savanna has always been committed to supporting our neighbours to secure better futures and employs 90% of our staff from these communities. We have also set up The Savanna Trust as a non-profit organisation, allowing us to collaborate with various community partners and support locally-owned projects that focus on improving the lives of the area’s most vulnerable individuals.

The overall goal of the Savanna Trust is to help build more resilient communities, which empower vulnerable individuals, especially young and elderly people, to meet their basic needs and secure a better future for them.

Tiyimiseleni- a home-based care centre in the nearby village of Mabarhule, to provide daily care and support for 300 orphans and vulnerable children (aged 2-18 years) affected by HIV and AIDS. Every day, the 15 women who run the centre prepare a nutritious meal, provide homework help and HIV education and facilitate recreational activities for all of the children who come to Tiyimiseleni after school.

Hlayisekani-  Sick and elderly residents in the surrounding communities are also often left neglected and extremely vulnerable, currently assisting 75 residents,  Nyiko Mokoena, a professionally-trained young nurse in the village of Huntington, is committed to improving the lives of these elderly people and, in his words, “restore hope to the hopeless.”

Khumba Ncila- means Touching Tales in Shangaan. The focus is helping the neighbouring community and their animals by giving support, education and care for all their livestock and pets, as well as aiding homeless animals in need.
