Good Work Foundation

Website http://www.goodworkfoundation.org/

GWF believes in a future where rural African people are confident participants of the fourth industrial revolution. They are agents of change seamlessly plugged in to local communities and global networks. Together with those who are reimagining education with us, GWF will continue to create innovative digital learning campuses, responsive programmes and demand-led social enterprises, all working together to create an accessible, opportunity-packed world for our next generation of rural Africans. Our goal is for each regional cluster of campuses to deliver wonder-filled 21st century learning opportunities to rural and marginalised communities. Each cluster will be 80% self-funded, 100% community-powered and 75% women-led.

The world is changing fast and the future will not exclude us. In fact, the future needs us.

Life Matters Foundation

Website https://lifemattersfoundation.org/

The LifeMatters Foundation was established in 2002 by Meadowridge Baptist Church (now Connect Church) to serve the youth of the greater Constantiaberg area in relevant ways.

The LifeMatters Foundation is passionate about making a difference to disadvantaged and at-risk Primary School learners.

We believe quality interventions should be holistic in nature, which is why we focus on both the academic and psycho-social development of the child.

Our Academic Portfolio provides literacy (the Shine Literacy Hour programme) and numeracy intervention to under-performing Grade 2 and 3 learners, to enable them to keep up with the academic curriculum.

Our LifeSkills Portfolio provides counselling, camps and Teenage Awareness programmes to equip learners to thrive in the face of the challenges of their context and adolescence, and become active citizens.

Promoting the survival of Southern Africa’s wild rhinos

Since 2008, in the region of 10,000 rhinos have been poached in South Africa. Rhino horn is a highly sought after commodity in illegal wildlife trade and has a value higher than gold. On average one rhino is killed every eight hours, resulting in more rhinos being poached than are born in a year.

Rhinos Without Borders is a joint initiative between leading conservation tourism companies &Beyond and Great Plains Conservation, along with Africa Foundation. The project aims to translocate rhino from high-risk poaching areas in South Africa to the comparative safety of Botswana.

The Jes Foord Foundation

Website https://www.jff.org.za/

It has been estimated that 40% of South African women will be raped in their lifetime and that 116 rapes occur in the country every day. Furthermore, only 1 in 4 cases are reported and lower than 9% of perpetrators are convicted. It is a sad reality that South Africa’s rape statistics are currently among the highest in the world.

The Jes Foord Foundation coordinates various projects in an effort to EDUCATE, create AWARENESS and change attitudes though advocacy and other initiatives. It is, however, our aim to address the problem itself: the prevalence of rape in our society. Some of these initiatives include our Handbag Project, The Young Men’s Mentorship Program, Awareness Talks and free Trauma Counselling – all of which have a unique purpose, but work together in addressing the problem.

The Jes Foord Foundation is a non-profit, PBO (public benefit organisation) and relies solely on individual and corporate donations to keep our counselling and care initiatives running. We sincerely thank everyone for their continued support over the last 15 years and humbly request that you will keep following our journey and sharing our message.
