Overview

The distinctly unique Mara Engai Wilderness Lodge is nestled amongst pristine Kenyan Ravin forest on the Oloololo (Siria) Escarpment. Overlooking the amazing Masai Mara National Reserve and Wildebeest Migration Route, with around 120km of unbroken views across the vast savannah — it is simply breath-taking.

Located on the edge of the Mara Triangle, which is divided from the rest of the Masai Mara by the Mara River; the Mara Triangle is less crowded, often with many more game animals grazing on the plains. Home to all members of the “Big Five’’

The Lodge boasts Large Luxurious tented suites nestled in the Kenyan ravine forest. Elevated to maximise the view and spaced over a large area to provide seclusion and privacy. The Luxurious toiletries provided in our full en-suite facilities feature twin vanities and invigorating waterfall showers.

We offer a wide range of exciting activities to please the little ones and also the adventurous ones. From Quadbike Safaris, Bush Dinners/Breakfast, Picnic Lunches, Sundowners, learning how to make a real fire like a Masai, a special Masai naming ceremony to visiting the Masai Village to name a few.

Unique to Mara Engai Lodge are our Pinzgauer vehicles which are known as the 'Big 6 ' in the Mara Triangle . These vehicles offer a whole new experience when it comes to Game drives. The vehicle can seat up to up to 8 people comfortably and has a canvas roof top for easy game viewing. They are strong and sturdy and offer a Game drive like no other.

Foundation and Community Belief

Just as the local environment plays a central role in the Mara Engai experience, so too is the local community of vital concern to Masai Mara Wilderness Lodge Limited. Over 75% of our employees are recruited and trained from the local community. We have built a local clinic, which acts as a triage facility, daycare centre, pediatric unit and dispensary – the only one of its kind for more than 30 km. We have also constructed a school and made substantial contributions towards two more in the area.

Eager to enable visitors to give something back to a region that offers them so much, we have set up the Mara Engai Foundation. Separate from the travel business, the foundation is run by a panel of community elders. Guests can get involved with schemes such as farming projects, women’s programs or wildlife conservation. They can talk to the foundation, whose members can provide them with information and guidance, whether they want to offer money, time or expertise.
