Cafe Kibale Logo.jpeg
Nestled in the middle of Kibale National Park, Café Kibale is a community initiative under the Great Lakes Foundation set up with a major aim of training the youth in the communities around the park with valuable experience in the hospitality sector for free and later feed them into the country’s growing tourism industry.

Upon its launch in July 2022, we enrolled our first batch of students for a rigorous six months training Programme under the expert guidance of the manager Ali, these finally graduated on 14th Jan, 2023.

The various fields of training include barista, food and beverage, customer care, health & hygiene, cost control and more. In addition we also train them with soft skills like resume writing and food safety knowledge. At the end of the six months training, these students are ready to seek employment complete with certificates and references.

Café Kibale is adjacent to the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) visitors’ center - the chimpanzee tracking start point and operates between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday.

It serves coffees, juices, smoothies, cakes and a small selection of meals that are Ugandan dishes for an international palette such as Mandazi, Rolex, samosas, bean stew, fish burger, Chicken wraps and so much more.

The proximity to the chimp tracking point gives clients the opportunity to get a hot meal or snack either before or after the trek at an affordable amount.

The café seeks to become an environmental champion, supporting sustainability through shunning plastics, buying local produce, recycling and educating the local community.

By supporting Café Kibale, you get the opportunity of supporting the local community as all the funds accumulated goes to the community and hence playing a huge role in promoting sustainable tourism in the areas surrounding Kibale National park.
