Travelling through Botswana with our Nadine & Chrisna
There is something so magical about the sunsets in Botswana and no other country delivers quite like it! Whether you’re on a Botswana safari in the Okavango Delta, the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, or simply enjoying the watery world of the Chobe river, there is one thing that remains consistent; the raw beauty of this incredible destination.

Exploring Lake Manyara National Park with our Karo
Meet the tree-climbing lions of East Africa at Lake Manyara National Park. If you’ve ever had the privilege of seeing a lion close-up in the African bush, you will know just how incredibly regal and majestic these animals really are. But seeing a whole pride suspended high in the branches of a tree? Now that’s an entirely different story. According to some, lions climb trees to get a breeze and cool off from the heat on the ground. Whatever the reason, watching these big cats (that can easily weigh between 250 to 400 pounds) maneuver themselves up into the branches of a tree is quite a sight.

Visiting Camdeboo National Park with our Mirjam
The Valley of Desolation in the Eastern Cape is a geological phenomenon; a sheer cliff face, declared a national monument that lies within the Camdeboo National Park. The vertical cliffs and columns of dolerite that teeter precariously 120 metres above the valley floor are breathtaking. This unusual feature is the product of volcanic and erosive forces that have taken 100 million years to form. They stand sentry over a valley - huge isolated hobgoblins of nature, forcing those who view them to suspend time, if only for a moment, to contemplate the force and beauty of nature.

Taking a glimpse into the life of a traditional Masaai
The Maasai used to move nomadically with their herds to abundant lush pastures but these days they have built permanent huts or bomas and prefer to stay in once place. They are pastoralists and cattle is essential to their way of life. A man’s success is measured by the number of cattle and offspring he has. As great a status and show of wealth the cattle are, they are also a vital food source. This glimpse of authentic Maasai culture was a fascinating experience for our Mirjam of an ancient way of life that still flourishes today.

Everything in Africa bites, but the Safari bug is the worst of all!
The most revered of Africa’s safari destinations, Kenya is located in East Africa and boasts the Masai Mara National Park, renowned for its abundant wildlife and annual Great Migration. A Kenyan safari not only boasts spectacular natural beauty in one of the most unspoiled places on earth, but it also brings you up close and personal with Africa’s most sought-after wildlife. According to our Mirjam – nothing says “classic safari” quite like a Kenyan safari. We couldn't agree more!

The White Lady of Brandberg.
The Brandberg Mountain is located in former Damaraland, now Erongo, in the northwestern Namib Desert, some 50 km from the coast, and covers an area of approximately 650km. It dominates the landscape and can be seen from a great distance, with its highest point, the Kˆnigstein (German for 'King's Stone'), standing at 2,573m. above sea level. Regarding rock art, the most famous site is the so-called White Lady' rock painting, located on a rock face with other artwork under a small rock overhang, in the Tsisab Ravine at the foot of the mountain. The Brandberg Mountain, including the higher elevations, contains more than 1,000 rock shelters, with an estimated 45,000 rock paintings. This is Nambia! Have you been to this beautiful country yet?

Heaven is a place on earth - it's called Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
Grootbos Forest Lodge, is nestled in an ancient Milkwood forest surrounded by rolling hills of fynbos and majestic mountains. Our Carmen, Mirjam and Vicky were blown away by the breathtaking natural beauty of this lodge and its surrounding landscapes. The clean lines, high ceilings and large windows frames accentuate the incredible sweeping views across the rolling hills of fynbos and on a clear day, it’s possible to see all the way to Cape Point! Orientated towards the setting sun, every evening offers another grand spectacle of light and colour. Grootbos is about more than just luxury accommodation and eco adventures. Your visit directly contributes to the conservation efforts of the Grootbos Foundation as well as the development of sustainable nature-based livelihoods amongst local communities.

Giraffes are quite remarkable creatures and much more so from the perspective of being on the ground looking up.
Our Mirjam, Carmen, and Victoria recently joined an exhilarating giraffe tracking safari on foot at Bellevue Forest Reserve. Filled with breath-taking moments, guests can experience an intimate walk through the heart of the Addo Valley bushveld accompanied by a highly experienced guide. This is where beautiful memories are made, as you feel the African sun giving life to this amazing safari experience.

Shine bright like a lighthouse!
Our Amazing Africa Team explored the Cape Recife Lighthouse - Est. 1849 located in the 366 hectare Cape Recife Nature Reserve at the southern tip of Algoa Bay, and also climbed the 87 steps to the top of the lighthouse to experience not only the magnificent view but also the light which delivers an effective guidance system to ships in and around Algoa Bay.

Lunch is ALWAYS better in the bush.
For many first-time travelers to Africa, one of the worries is what the food will be like, and the biggest surprise is therefore how incredibly high the standard of fare is but these astounding dishes are made all the more enjoyable by the setting in which they are served! Whether a super-lavish beach lodge or a remote bush camp, a property is always carefully designed to really immerse you in the experience, making the most of beautiful surroundings and resident wildlife. This is what we call dining with a view

Soaking up the sun and exploring the known and unknown of the vibrant Mauritius.
Surrounded by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and fringed by 160km of sandy beaches and an azure sea, with a backdrop of rugged peaks and shimmering sugar cane, this pear-shaped tropical island is a dream holiday destination! This is what paradise looks like!

Exploring Zanzibar with our Mirjam and Kerstin.
This island is steeped in culture and history and accessible from any safari region in Tanzania, within a matter of hours you can be relaxing on one of Zanzibar’s white sand beaches with a cocktail in hand. Zanzibar epitomises the Indian Ocean ideal. Colourful boutique hotels line white sands which stretch into glistening turquoise waters. The variety of hotels on Zanzibar means every budget is met with characterful charm; from private islands off the coast, to barefoot luxury beach shack chic, there is something for everyone. It would be a shame to go on a Tanzania safari without bookending your trip on this fabulous island. Island days are the best kind of days!

Hiking Rwanda’s lush Volcanoes National Park in search of mountain gorillas with our Kerstin.
Did you know Rwanda is home to some of the world's greatest primate tracking and over half of the world's surviving mountain gorilla population? It's no wonder that most wildlife-enthusiasts come to Rwanda to track and spend time with these critically endangered primates up-close.

Cape Agulhas, the place where two oceans – the Indian and Atlantic – meet!
Early Portuguese seafarers rounding the most southern tip of Africa called it Capo du Agulhas, which means Cape of Needles (referring to the jagged rocks of the coastline). It is estimated that almost 200 ships have sunk off the shore of Cape Agulhas in the past 200 years. Most notably, the Japanese ship Meisho Maru’s wreckage is still visible just offshore. If the winds aren’t too strong, you can visit the marker like our Vicky indicating the official dividing line where the oceans meet.

Shore Excursions with Amazing Africa
Our Chrisna, Ryan and Phumi welcomed more than 400 MSC Cruises guests to what is renowned as South Africa's third-largest city, Durban! It goes to show what the power of teamwork and organizational skills can achieve! We are grateful to our incredible and knowledgeable staff (behind and in front of the scenes) and our Tour Guides, a warm and welcoming hospitality is a trait that just comes naturally for them.

Ain't no mountain high enough for our Kerstin!
Serra da Leba is the name of a mountain range located on the boundary of Huíla and Namibe provinces of Angola and is one of the famous hairpinned roads in the world. Serra da Leba is a national landmark in Angola, and according to our Kerstin this road deserves more than one stop not just for taking photos but to contemplate the landscape.

An amazing view over Angola!
The Tundavala Gap is the main natural attraction in Angola. It is located at the rim of the Serra da Leba mountains, offering a spectacularly breathtaking view of surrounding rocky landscapes, the nearby city of Lubango, and the Atlantic Ocean. This natural gem is not easily accessible, but enthusiasts choosing to conquer it will be rewarded viewing this magical place, take it from our Kerstin!

A Zambia Safari - Africa's underrated gem
Everybody forgets about a Zambia safari. With Tanzania to one side and Botswana to the other, Zambia easily goes under the radar. But if you look a little closer, there is beauty, enchantment and drama that makes for one of Africa’s wildest safari experiences. Those who do visit Zambia usually do so for one reason: The Victoria Falls but if you look beyond this famous waterfall and a Zambia safari could be the wild connection you’ve been dreaming about!

Venturing out into the open sea and paddle along the coastline of Cape Town.
As Travel Experts we know there are certain moments in life that are hard to describe and watching a pod of dolphins power through the deep blue water beneath a kayak, just centimetres from your awaiting fingertips, is one of them. While dolphins are a bonus, they are not the sole reason to grab an oar and head out into the deep and cool waters, the unique view of Table Mountain and Lions Head is entirely different from a land-based view. Being out on the water and at sea level gives one a special sense of awe and is a wonderful opportunity to snap some unusual pics. This is a Cape Town bucket list must.

The story behind Crooks Corner.
In the far northeastern corner of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, where the Luvhuvhu and Limpopo rivers meet, lies Crooks Corner. This triangle of land is the meeting place of three countries – South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe – and used to be a favourite hideout for criminals on the run. Today, however, it’s one of the top tourist destinations in the Kruger National Park, filled with history, abundant in wildlife and well worth the trip.

At Ndhula Luxury Tented Lodge for ATTA
It might not be fair to say it, but we're going to anyway - if we had to declare a favorite off all the Tented Lodges, it would be Ndhula Luxury Tented Lodge. Perhaps it's because it's the perfect base to relax and explore some of South Africa's precious natural attractions, including the Kruger National Park, the Blyde River Canyon and the scenic Panorama Route. With stunning views over the mountains, bushveld and surrounding valleys, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Whatever our reasons, it's a Lodge that we love!

Mugie House: Stay on a Luxury Kenyan Ranch
Our Mirjam and Kerstin were blown away by the breathtaking natural beauty of this lodge, nestled in a prime and unique location set on the private Mugie Conservancy. The charming stone cottages sit on a hill overlooking the rolling Laikipia plains and exude a warm, inviting air that feels as familiar and comfortable as your own place. Mugie House offers an exceptional African safari experience. No two days are the same and there is a variety of exciting activities to keep you entertained. Day and night drives take you through the conservancy in search of big game, time spent in the hide provides the opportunity to photograph visitors to the watering hole, while the Mugie Dam is the perfect spot to do some kayaking.

Hiking the vineyards of Stellenbosch.
If you want to do something fun in Stellenbosch, then why not consider hiking through the vineyards? This initiative aims to entice travellers to get out and about, while still celebrating the wine culture in the area. Stellenbosch has the most stunning natural scenery. Getting outdoors to appreciate nature in a different way, combining it with food and wine offerings, is yet another way to showcase the many reasons to visit Stellenbosch.

Working with a view in the Kruger National Park!
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest perks of working remotely is the opportunity to work from anywhere in the world. Our Amazing Africa team had the privilege of working from the Kruger National. We find it inspiring to be outside of the regular four walls of our home office we've grown accustomed to. A different environment helps us approach work with renewed purpose and intention!

A Luxury South African Safari at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve!
Translated as 'place of the blue crane' in isiXhosa, that flanks both the north and south banks of the Great Fish River, near Grahamstown and roughly two hours' from Gqeberha. They are passionate about sharing their knowledge and understanding of the bush and fostering a connection with the land, wildlife, communities and conservation. Gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda!
The climb was challenging, but the sheer size and power of these gentle giants are captivating, and the realization that you're in the presence of one of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom is truly awe-inspiring.🦍 There are few words that can describe trekking through thick jungle to interact with gorilla families in Uganda - this was a wildlife experience of a lifetime and one our Thato will forever cherish. 🙏

Life is brew-tea-ful with a cup of tea!
A Factory tour at Satemwa Tea Estate in Malawai gives visitors an opportunity to learn about the estate, how tea is produced and the various types of tea. The estate provides magnificent views of Mount Mulanje and the Lower Shire valley, and offers one of the prettiest drives in Malawi.

Some things are worth getting up early for and this is certainly one of them!
A Serengeti Balloon Safari is the ultimate way to experience the vastness of the Serengeti National Park according to our Mirjam and Kerstin, and we couldn't agree more! 😉 A Serengeti balloon safari is an extraordinary opportunity to relish a bird’s eye-view of the phenomenal sweeping plains below and as you get closer you are spectator to the most magnificent view of dramatically striped black and white zebra, enormous grey elephants meandering to a waterhole, and warthogs foraging in the grassy scrub.

Madagascar delivers the most surreal sightings!
Our Chrisna set out to explore Reniala Forest Reserve, a private protected area in the South of Madagascar. 🍃 A highlight for our Chrisna was the baobab forest, where century-old specimens stand like ancestral sentinels. Walking among these giants of nature is an enchanting experience that transports you to another time and another world.

The Panorama Route - the scenic journey through South Africa's heartland!
Our Karo explored third-largest canyon in the world - Blyde River Canyon!😃 Did you know the Blyde River Canyon is 26 kilometres in length and is, on average, around 800m deep and extends along the Blyde River Canyon's winding path, which at every turn offers more and more impressive views. Blyde River Canyon Reserve is situated against the Greater Drakensberg escarpment and includes natural wonders such as the Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Three Rondavels, Pinnacle Rock and God's Window.

We get goosebumps for our Amazing Africa!
Our Kate and Lizette recently explored the Ngorongoro Crater one of Africa's most unique natural wonders, and here are several reasons why it's worth a visit: 1. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. 2. Thanks to the mineral-rich volcanic soil, the short-grass plains grow lush on the Crater’s floor, which provide nutritious grazing for a plethora of herbivores. These big herds in turn attract a remarkable number of predators – the densest populations found anywhere in Africa. 3. The Crater offers visitors a high chance of seeing all the members of the Big 5 in one place – arguably one of the best-known Ngorongoro Crater facts.

Exploring Soweto in a tuk-tuk!
Our Mirjam, Kerstin and Karo recently explored Soweto's attractions and historical sites on a a colourful, three-wheeler “tuk-tuk”.🙌 Did you know these Interactive Tours are led by the residents of Soweto, and gives travelers the opportunity to meet local residents in a fun and engaging way, with stops at the Hector Pieterson Museum and Nelson Mandela's House at 8115 Vilakazi Street.

Gqeberha - The windy city of South Africa.
The Donkin Ligthouse has been shining since 1861 and is one of the best-known historical attractions in Gqeberha, telling a fascinating story of the discovery and development of this friendly city. Sir Rufane Donkin named the city after his late beloved wife, Lady Elizabeth Donkin. How romantic? 😍 Its' stone pyramid and mosaic floors make it an Insta-worthy attraction.🗼

This is what paradise looks like!
Our Mirjam, Kerstin, Chrisna and Vicky soaked up the sun and explored the known and unknown of the vibrant Seychelles. Randomly scattered across the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles invites guests to explore its 115 islands. Dense forests blend into white, sandy beaches, warm, turquoise waters and coral reefs, while bird sanctuaries, exotic vegetation, secluded coves, mountain peaks and tropical coco de mer palms enchant with their diversity.

iThemba elitsha

“New hope” is the translation for “iThemba elitsha”. This is what we want to give to the children and teenagers from Kleinmond, a small village in South Africa.
The township of Kleinmond – the quarter of the poorest – has to struggle with many problems: poverty, unemployment and lack of prospects, and this often results in teenage pregnancies, drug abuse and also in violence and gang crime.
Out of their desperation, the children and teenagers often do not care about their education, and therefore might never be able to lead an autonomous life. We want to help them get out of the vicious circle of poverty, and with your support we want to build a center that offers girls and boys a safe environment. There we can offer them a hot meal and much more, which unfortunately is not a given in South Africa. For more information see “Project“.
