Uganda Starts Online Visa Application
Visiting the Pearl of Africa for business or Pleasure has never been easier. Tourists, business men and women, students, among other visitors seeking to enter Uganda can now apply for visas online.
"O Uganda has introduced the online visa application system which started working with effect from July 2016. This means that all persons intending to come to Uganda for holiday, tourism, business, study, visit, medical reasons, are required to apply and obtain a visas online.
The Visas that can be applied and obtained online include Multiple-Entry visa, Diplomatic and Official visa, Ordinary visa, East Africa Tourist Visa (multiple entry valid for 90 days to Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda) and Transit visa.
Under the online application system, the decision taken on the application will be sent electronically through the email provided by the applicant. If approved, an approval letter will be sent as an attachment to the email provided. The applicant will be required to print it out and present it together with a valid passport / travel document at the point of entry.
The Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit Application System performs checks against law enforcement databases. All travelers seeking admission to Uganda are required to obtain a Visa using this system prior to being granted boarding.
If your visa or permit application is approved, it establishes that you are eligible for the approved visa or permit, but does not establish that your application is definitely approved.
Upon arrival to Uganda (at the selected point of entry) or to the Immigration Office Headquarters, you will be inspected by an Immigration Officer who may determine if your application is finally approved. All information provided by you, or on your behalf by a designated third party, must be true and correct. A visa or permit application approval may be revoked at any time and for any reason, such as new information influencing eligibility. You may be subject to administrative or criminal penalties if you knowingly and willfully make a materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation in an electronic visa or permit application submitted by you or on your behalf.
The final approval is done at the selected point of entry (in the case of a visa) or at the Immigration Office. However, if you are out of Uganda, it is mandatory to present a valid visa approval letter for entering in Uganda. Any other permit does not allow you to enter the country.
