Cable Cars to Be Introduced To Mount Kenya
The Kirinyaga County Government has announced plans to install a cable car to Mount Kenya to improve access and boost tourism in the area. The highest mountain in Kenya and second highest in Africa, the cable car will allow more tourists to experience the wide variety of nature and wildlife of Mount Kenya National Park. A diverse range of animals and plant life reside on the World Heritage Site including monkeys, antelopes, tree hyrax and porcupines with some larger animals, such as elephant and buffalo, living in the forests lower down.
Inspired by countries like Switzerland who have utilised cable car tourism, Kenya aims to unlock the potential of the beautiful landscape of Mount Kenya with the new infrastructure. Several potential investors have already expressed their interest in the project. www.kws.go.ke/content/mount-kenya-national-park-reserve
