This Week at Atta HQ

Good morning from a very hot London! We are tipped to get to a great thirty degrees celcius today and are looking forward to a summery weekend.

We had a wonderful time at the Atta Regatta on Wednesday evening and it certainly provided a hint of Zambia while members, media and industry colleagues enjoyed a fabulous evening of networking opportunities. With speeches from the event sponsors, the Zambia Tourism Board, as well as a wonderfully generous prize draw including a Zambian t-shirt and two nights at Sausage Tree Camp, I think everyone will agree it was a pleasant time on the banks of the Thames/Zambezi!

We have had great feedback from our members about the event and as always are looking forward to the next one! We were so pleased to see so many of you, and hope that next year we will have an opportunity to run another seminar that wil be of interest.

Nigel and the Atta Chairperson Anita attended an important meeting on Tuesday night which addressed a number of extremely important issues that affect all areas of the travel industry. Some of this was touched upon in a speech by Nigel at the Regatta, and we will be publishing some information next week that we would appreciatae it if you could keep an eye out for.

In addition to this, on Wednesday a few of our directors got together for a  companystrategy meeting as we move towards the new season of Atta membership. Fuelled with plenty of tea and biscuits, the outcomes of this meeting were positive, and you can expect to see some changes as a result.

This week, Lina and I have been preparing for the membership year that will be commencing at the beginning of October. We have been looking toward the next set of roadshows that are coming up, including Russia in August - find out more about this by emailing info@atta.travel.

We have also already applied for our spaces at Indaba and ITB for 2015, and will be looking at starting to book these up slightly later in 2014. I am taking information for those of you who would like to pre-register your interest in these shows, so if you would like me to notify you as soon as we have completed our plans please send me an email on membership@atta.travel.

Sales for WTM have been steady and I would encourage you to book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment if you have not already. You can find out more information on this here.

In Matched, Hatched and Through the Grapevine, I would like to take this moment to mention the sad loss of Nix "Lettie" Haynes, a friend of Atta via Ron Rutland, who succumbed to cancer recently. Her service will take place today, and the request from the family was that instead of flowers, friends would pay for a random couple's dinner bill on the next night out and sign it "With love from Lettie".

I will leave you on that note - I wish you all the very best of weekends, and will speak to you all next week!
