Emirates goes live with online booking from Zambian provinces
Emirates has added a further eight locations across Zambia to its online ticketing system, enabling jet-setters from across the country to travel to more than 140 destinations worldwide with just one ticket. The computerisation is the final component of Emirates’ interline agreement with domestic carrier Proflight Zambia.
With immediate effect travellers can now book via the Emirates website to buy through-tickets from Ndola, Livingstone, Mfuwe, Solwezi, Chipata, Mansa, Lower Zambezi (Jeki) and Kasama, to any Emirates destination around the globe. The move adds eight new departure points to the airline’s online system, which already had the existing Lusaka option.
The web facility is the final step in the interline agreement between Emirates and Proflight, which was announced in January. Since then the airlines have been working to ensure their ticketing systems are integrated into the www.emirates.com website, where previously bookings had to be made at a sales office or through travel agents.
Under the agreement, customers will be able to purchase joint Emirates-Proflight Zambia itineraries and will be issued with a single combined ticket. This will enable seamless connections to and from nine domestic destinations: Ndola, Livingstone, Mfuwe, Solwezi, Chipata, Mansa, Lower Zambezi (Jeki) and Kasama, with Emirates’ daily service direct from Lusaka to Dubai.
Customers will also enjoy a range of added benefits, including the same baggage allowance for Proflight customers connecting with Emirates flights.
On the Lusaka route Emirates operates modern Airbus A340-300 aircraft with 267 seats: 12 luxurious sleeper seats in First Class, 42 deep-reclining seats in Business Class and 213 in Economy Class.
EK 713 departs Dubai every day at 0925hrs, arriving in Lusaka at 1435hrs. The service departs Lusaka at 1605hrs, arriving in Harare at 1710hrs. The return flight leaves Harare at 1850hrs, arriving Lusaka at 1955hrs. It departs Lusaka at 2140hrs and lands in Dubai at 0650hrs the next day.
