If luxury and private safari is what you long for you’ll find both in abundance at Olarro Kenya. Sanctuaries for indulgence sitting with the Maasai Mara region, both of the all-inclusive luxury lodges promise privileged safari access to 20,000 acres of wilderness. Olarro Conservancy is owned entirely by Hermes Retreats, open only to its guests.
With two different retreats on offer guests can choose between Olarro Lodge – a secluded hilltop haven, and Olarro Plains – a lodge meticulously planned to offer uninterrupted savannah views. While each opulent outpost offers a very different perspective, both escapes promise exclusive access to rare and iconic African wildlife, day and night, all year round. Away from the hustle and bustle, free from other tourists or vehicles. At Olarro there is no set timings – simply do what you want, when you want. From quad biking to hot air ballooning, exquisite bush dining, picnics, sundowners, cultural visits to the local Maasai village, or unwinding in the extra special surroundings of the Olarro Spa.
Suited to families, couples, groups and lone travelers alike, every day is a different adventure at Olarro.
Locasted in South Western Kenya in the Loita Hills Massif, Olarro Lodge and Olarro Plains sit within the Massai Mara region about 2000km from Nairobi. Our Commitment to Responsible Tourism
Conservation & Community
Our aim is to create a self-sustaining tourist operation with the dual goal of improving the standard of living for the local Masai community.
Olarro has undertaken three main courses of action: The first is to create a conservancy for wildlife protection; the second is to change the land use so that the green cover is retained and overgrazing and deforestation are avoided; and the last is to ensure that the operations of Olarro itself are as close to carbon neutral as possible.
Olarro conservancy plans to reintroduce endangered species and is at present undergoing a scientific ecological assessment of the environment, as well as undertaking a threatened species reintroduction survey.
Olarro is 99% solar and wind power generated. Guests can visit the technologically advanced solar and wind energy systems installed by Olarro and the Bio Box site where grey and black water is recycled to generate water for irrigation.
