Madagascar Classic Collection (MCC) is proud to present to you the finest luxury camping and lodge experiences on the Island Continent. Our properties, Mandrare River Camp and Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge are both located in the South of Madagascar near Fort Dauphin. Mandrare River Camp has six luxury en-suite tents that are generously spread out in the shade of tamarind trees, all with breathtaking views across the tranquil water to the sacred mountains beyond. The seclusion of the camp affords intimate access and insight to the spiny forest; home to an abundance of unique wildlife and the fascinating Antandroy tribe that co-habit this arid and otherworldly landscape. Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge is barefoot luxury in a truly breathtaking setting… Sparkling blue seas, verdant rainforests, abundant wildlife, and distant mountains, this small and intimate lodge offers a taste of serenity to all of our guests. Nestled into a forest fringed cove, our six luxury thatched bungalows offer private decked terraces inches from the sea, perfectly reflecting the tranquility of their natural surroundings. Madagascar Classic Camping (MCC) manages both Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge and Mandrare River Camp. It is a British owned business based in Madagascar. The Managing Director, Edward Tucker Brown, has dedicated over 12 years of his life to African Tourism; and is based permanently in Madagascar. Opening in 2007, Mandrare River Camp consistently receives outstanding reviews as the finest luxury tented camp in Madagascar. Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge was a welcome addition to the MCC Family and opened with great success in 2010. Enjoy a true Malagasy Safari experience, safe in the knowledge that you are assisting to protect ‘the evolutionary experiment’ that is the Island continent of Madagascar.

We are proud to announce that we distributed 300 life jackets to the local fisherman at Manafiafy village this weekend thanks to a generous donation from our guests Sandra, Bruce & Max Fairon.  Manafiafy fishermen face the ocean every day in their traditional dugout canoes to provide sustenance for their families. Every year fisherman are lost to the ocean. On behalf of the village of Manafiafy, we thank the Fairons for their lifesaving gift.  The event was attended by local dig…

7 reasons to visit Madagascar between November and January

Summer (Nov. – Jan.) is one of the best times to visit Madagascar. The weather is fantastic with warm sunny days and nightly rains that turn the vegetation lush and green. It’s also mating season for one of the island continent’s most iconic species; the fossa. The fossa is Madagascar’s largest predator and is extremely shy and difficult to spot. However, you will have the best chance of seeing these gorgeous animals in summer. The island’s endemic birds are stunn…
