Lion Camp is built amongst Sausage and Mahogany trees, on the edge of an oxbow lagoon which attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Game viewing in and around camp is spectacular with lions, leopards, wild dogs, large herds of elephant and buffalo, the highest concentration of hippo in Africa, incredible bird viewing, and plentiful sightings of the unique Thornicroft’s Giraffe, Cookson’s Wildebeest and Crawshay’s Zebra. Savannas, woodlands and the meandering Luangwa River form the backdrop to this amazing part of the South Luangwa.
Walking safaris and game drives at Lion Camp are expertly led by some of South Luangwa’s best guides. Located far away from the Mfuwe Gate, Lion Camp offers a truly exclusive safari experience with an abundance of game and few other safari vehicles.
All of Lion Camp’s 10 luxurious timber, canvas and thatch suites have been designed to maximise the spectacular views. Each suite has a private deck looking over the plain where plenty of wildlife pass offering game viewing throughout the day. The suites are connected to the main area by a raised and winding wooden walkway. The main lodge is a spacious, open and airy thatched area with private nooks, seating areas and a pool.
From the style and comfort of the suites to the delicious locally produced menu paired with South African estate wines, to the expertly guided safaris and bush dinners served under the stars, Lion Camp offers understated luxury and an exceptional safari experience.
Lion Camp operates in Zambia’s dry season from 20 May to 31 October.

In 2018 Lion Camp by Mantis became one of the first carbon neutral safari camps in South Luangwa through purchasing verified carbon offsets from Biocarbon Partners. In line with the its sustainability ethos, this initiative not only neutralises the carbon footprint of Lion Camp's operations but supports the protection of the forests around the national park, benefitting local communities as well as the wildlife inhabiting these areas. Going carbon neutral is the latest step in Lion Camp's efforts to reduce its ecological footprint and ensure minimal impact on the environment.Read More
