Adrift, the popular Ugandan-based adventure brand associated with Lemala Camps and Lodges, made a pioneering descent of the river Nile in Uganda in 1996 (10 years after first scouting the river) before introducing commercial whitewater rafting to the country. The company has the most professional and experienced team on the continent with over 30 years of worldwide rafting and adventure experience.

We thank over 58,000 customers who have safely rafted the Nile with us including Prince William, Ginger Spice, Mikka Hakkanen, Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman.

Adrift has two branded and child friendly properties - Adrift Overland Camp and Adrift River Club on the western banks of the River Nile, two hours east of Kampala.

Next door is the Adrift Activity Centre, a brand new adventure hub where guests can book and enjoy an unrivalled selection and combination of exciting river and land-based activities with Adrift - East Africa's most respected and reputable adventure brand.

A short motorised canoe ride across the river brings guests to Lemala Wildwaters, voted the most Instagrammable Hotel in Africa (and second most in the world), a private island retreat mid river and surrounded by thundering, dramatic rapids. Leanne Haigh, CEO of Adrift and Lemala commented:
"Adrift and Lemala have always been proud to be deeply committed to our three communities, those villages with whom we coexist, our staff and their families and our travel professional friends around the world. After two years of COVID we are especially pleased to be demonstrating this commitment to the villages of Kasambya and Kalagala.

Wildwaters was born from the waters of the River Nile and we have always been committed to recruiting staff from the villages along its banks. Our amazingly fresh fish are pulled sustainably from the waters of the river by fishermen whose families have fished these waters for generations. We are absolutely delighted to be extending our support of this entire area. Buying locally grown "fresh from the field" fruits not only means better prices for the farmer but it also shortens our supply lines and environmental footprint. We have plans to initiate egg, vanilla pod and clove propagation programs locally."
