The ATTA® Charter for Sustainable Tourism sets out 10 principles covering the economic, social and environmental impacts of tourism. ATTA® commits to these principles and encourages its members to endorse them and put them into practice.

Many ATTA® members will already be taking a range of action to support some or all of these principles, such as conserving local culture and wildlife, reducing waste and emissions and supporting local communities. However, the level and breadth of their engagement will vary.

This ATTA® Toolkit identifies various sources of information, guidance and support which may be helpful to members in addressing the principles of sustainability. It is not intended to be comprehensive and will be reviewed and revised from time to time.

The toolkit is in three sections:

  • Becoming certified for sustainability
  • Useful sources of information on tourism sustainability
  • Sustainability training, advice and support.
