Storytime in the Bush - with Professor Alice Roberts!

A safari is always amazing, but we’re about to offer Bushtops guests something unique, enhancing the experience even further.

Most visitors know that the East African plains are where our early human ancestors emerged from the rocks and grasslands surrounding our camps. And that’s why we’re really thrilled to announce that we’ll be sharing stories and anthropological ‘Did You Know?’ facts around our camp fires and on game drives/walks, specially curated for Bushtops guests by Professor Alice Roberts.

Alice is a brilliant fusion of biological anthropologist and compelling storyteller. She is Professor of Public Engagement in Science at the University of Birmingham and equally well known as a TV broadcaster, writer and communicator.

Having spent time at Mara Bushtops in April, Professor Roberts enthused: “Africa is where the story of humanity starts. And we learn so much of it from discoveries here - in Kenya and Tanzania. This is where our ancient ancestors strode out into the savannah, where they took the first steps to becoming fully human. It’s such a privilege to come and explore this place, the birthplace of humanity.”

Now, thanks to our association with this world-authority on our past, Bushtops can amplify our already distinctive offer to all guests. But if you can’t wait for her Reconnection Stories, here are a couple of links to her brilliant books.

Another huge story

It’s all hands on deck right now at Bushtops, with a bustle of excitement evident as we prepare for a busy season ahead. The migration has arrived in central Serengeti (where Roving Bushtops is located), with massive herds of wildebeest all around us.

The herds have split in two, with the first group heading north-east through Lobo towards Bologna and the Sand river. The second group is in the central Serengeti, headed north-west towards the western corridor. In just a few weeks the herds will head towards the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara, where our lucky visitors will be privileged to witness the year’s thunderous, breath-taking river crossings.

After the interruptions and heartbreak of recent years, we simply can’t wait to welcome our guests to these magnificent spectacles. With a combination of magical stories, the best wildlife viewing on earth and luxurious accommodation, a Bushtops adventure could be just what you need in your life right now.

Time to get planning?!
