ECO OPERATOR - GREEN SAFARIS - ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION OF SECOND LODGE KAYA MAWA ON LAKE MALAWI

May 2018: Recently launched, Green Safaris, an exciting and pioneering new safari operator passionately committed to promoting eco-friendly tourism in Africa, is delighted to announce the acquisition of its second lodge, Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island in Malawi.

Green Safaris currently operates Ila Safari Lodge in Zambia’s Kafue National Park and brings together a group of like-minded individuals from investors to local communities. It was founded in 2014 by Vincent Kouwenhoven, who has previously been involved in several lodges in Zambia and Daniel Allcock, formerly working with Wilderness Safaris. The team shares four core values: ecologically sensitive and driven to find lower impact ways of operating through conservation and harnessing ‘green’ technology; exceeding customer expectations through generating unique experiences for them; promoting what is great about each location; and developing people wherever they operate. The opening of their first eco-luxury property, Ila Safari Lodge, is testimony to this vision, not only providing an exceptional safari experience with great sightings, but also featuring trailblazing eco technology that enhances the overall experience, such as the very first electrical game-drive vehicle and a solar powered boat for silent safaris.

Kaya Mawa is already a well known and very special luxury beach-lodge, having received multiple awards that identify it as one of Africa’s top and most romantic retreats. As with Ila Safari Lodge, the Green Safaris’ group will continue the excellent work already started by Kaya Mawa by investing in further community and conservation projects on Likoma Island. These projects will empower the surrounding community and, where possible, guests will be involved so to generate even more unique experiences.

Green Safaris’ Ila Safari Lodge (Stand A13) and Kaya Mawa (Stand E11) will both be present at the upcoming WAA in Cape Town (May 14-17)

Green Safaris have launched a special introductory offer of a pay 5, stay 7 nights for itineraries combining Ila Safari Lodge and Kaya Mawa. For more information on this package, please contact Honour Way ([email protected]), Green Safaris’ European Marketing representative or the group reservations ([email protected]).
