Little Governors' Goes 100% Solar
By Chloe Flatt, Governors' CampBeing eco-friendly and sustainable are important concerns to today's conscientious traveller. Governors’ properties have the privilege of being located in some of the world’s most precious wildlife locations, so having minimal impact on our pristine environments is incredibly important to us too. This is why we are on a mission to minimalize our carbon footprint as part of our wider ethos dedicated to conservation and positive impact on neighbouring rural communities.
After recently eliminating plastic drinking bottles, we’ve taken the next important step and installed a solar system at Little Governors’ Camp. After a lot of hard work, it was with great excitement that the team at Little Governors’ Camp was able to switch on the solar system for the first time last week, powering up the entire camp.
As well as powering the whole camp, each tent also has its own solar-heated hot water system, for supplying steamy hot showers on demand to our guests.
A carbon counter installed at reception shows the tonnes of carbon saved from running on the solar system. Guests can view in real time their positive impact of choosing to stay at Little Governors' Camp. Stay tuned as more exciting changes are on their way for Governors’ Camp in 2018.
