I am writing to let you know those changes have been fully implemented. For the majority of flights, Coastal Aviation has adapted a 'safety pilot' system. There will be two pilots in the cockpit.The only way a flight will be operated by a sole pilot will be if they are one of our most experienced pilots. These pilots will not only be highly experienced, with experience in bush conditions here in Tanzania, but their experience will be entirely accident-free.

Building a Future for the Batwa in Gahinga!
Volcanoes SafarisUnder the shadow of Mt. Sabinyo, a 30 minute walk from Mount Gahinga Lodge, the indigenous Gahinga Batwa are working eagerly with the support of VSPT to build their own permanent settlement after 26 years of displacement from the park. The 10-acre settlement project will provide homes for the 100 adults and children, land for farming, and a community center. This will be a permanent home near the forest they have lived for generations. Working six days a week, rain or shine, and often undertaking strenuous manual labor, there is a sense of hope in the air for the Batwa.

Elephants return to the Plains of Camdeboo
Samara Private Game ReserveThe introduction of a herd of elephant to Samara Private Game Reserve has marked a conservation milestone as these animals return to their historic range, entrenching Samara’s status as one of the most significant conservation areas in the Karoo.
