Rwandair Re-introduces Community Service to Kampala

RwandAir, together with the Kampala Capital City Authority, recently launched a community service programme, which back in Rwanda is known as ‘Umuganda’; they started in Nakawa a suburb in Kampala.
Each last Saturday of every month In Rwanda, every person participates in the half-day cleaning of their locality, and take part in other activities that are community based; and all this is led by the president himself together with family.
This arrangement has enabled the locals to take full responsibility for the cleanliness of their neighborhood. The country manager of RwandAir Ms. Ada Magezi said that the airline has reintroduced this concept in Uganda.
Right after Uganda's liberation war back in the early 1990’s the country had this kind of arrangement led by the then local ‘Resistance Council’ currently known as Local Council 1. All this happened before the economy was liberalized, however lack of discipline across most the communities led the failing of this program.

RwandAir is serving Uganda under the fifth freedom rights through Entebbe offering flights to Kigali, Juba and daily flights to Nairobi; it also connects to a number of destinations in West Africa, southern Africa and Dubai. It also several visitors coming for a Safari in Uganda have likewise used the services of this airline.
