Uganda Hands Over ATA Presidency

ATA is the Africa Travel association, a nonprofit making body that is responsible for the smooth running of travel, tourism and transport business in Africa and its members include a number of African countries, one of them is Uganda. When it comes to presidency, every member state is given a chance to take the wheel at one point in time and currently Uganda is running the organization.

It’s been a year since Uganda took over the administration of the Africa Travel Association and this was after they held a very successful 39th Annual Congress which we hosted in Munyonyo, Kampala.  Then yesterday a number of delegates as well as invited guests had dinner-meeting in Nairobi-Kenya at the InterContinental Hotel and it was Uganda Tourism minister Hon. Maria Mutagamba who welcomed all the congress delegates as well as all the other guests to this dinner –function. She last presided over such a meeting when Uganda was taking over presidency of the association.

She was accompanied by the Uganda ATA Chapter President, Mrs. Susan Muhwezi, and they begun their speech by appreciating delegates for entrusting Uganda with the responsibility of running the association for the whole year. It is important to note that ATA’s very first function to be held in Uganda was in 2004 and that is when ATA’s Cultural Forum was also held.

Now that Uganda’s term in office is over, it’s time for Kenya to run the show come next year.
