Tourism Industry in Uganda Prepares for 2015 Papal Visit

In Uganda, As Catholics across the country get ready to host the Holy Father Pope Francis this year in the month of November (27th - 29th); also the tourism sector is prepared to make use of this great opportunity.

In accordance with the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Steven Asiimwe, more than 100,000 visitors are likely to come into the country from different parts of the world, so this is a great opportunity for the country to market its tourism products.

Mr. Steven added that as UTB, they are preparing a catalogue consisting of all the tourist sites within the country that can visited while on Safari in Uganda, as well as a video that will be distributed among these expected visitors.

On Saturday, hundreds of not only believers but also well-wishers participated in a charity walk that was organized with an aim of raising funds for the renovation of the Uganda Martyrs Shrine at Namugongo in preparation for the 2015 Pope’s visit.
