Kenya Airways Appoints New Chief Executive Officer

Mbuvi Ngunze has been appointed as the new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya Airways.

Mr Ngunze appointment follows the retirement of Dr Titus Naikuni, who has retired after 11 years at the helm of the airline, which is Kenya’s national carrier. Mr Ngunze was previously the Chief Operating Officer at Kenya Airways.

Commenting on his promotion to the role of CEO, Mbuvi Ngunze said, “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead our national carrier. This is a great airline and international organization, and I will continue the work to position Kenya Airways as Africa’s premier airline. We are in the midst of an aggressive fleet renewal and landside modernization programme that will not only deliver an unmatched experience to our guests, but also enable us to grow our network of destinations.”

Mr Ngunze holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi. He is a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales) and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Management Development Program.

He has previously worked at Price Waterhouse, Bamburi Cement, Hima Cement Uganda, and Lafarge. Mr Ngunze joined Kenya Airways in September 2011 as Chief Operating Officer.
