Meet Rajduth Ramsurun, Gold Zanzibar’s new chef


Raj Ramsurun has had 18 years of cooking experience in both local and International cuisine. Having qualified at the Hotel and Catering school of Mauritius, Raj’s experience includes some of the luxury hotels in Mauritius and the Seychelles including Le Touessrok, Shandrani Hotel, Taj Exotica Resort and La Plantation Resort.

As well as his experience in 5 star hotels, Raj has also worked with cruise ships and brought his own contribution to the Hotel Food Asia in Singapore.

During Raj’s career he has teamed with prestigious chefs such as Eric Reithler and Century Chef, Paul Bocuse. His passion for cooking and his natural curiosity has earned him solid expertise in gastronomy and fusion cuisine and he has a particular interest in Indian, Italian and Japanese dishes.

Raj joined the team at Gold Zanzibar on 31st July and is already eagerly making amends to the a la carte menu with a particular emphasis on traditional Zanzibari dishes including ingredients such as island spices, fresh fish and sea food and local fruits and vegetables as well as classic International dishes.
