Alex Walker's Serian Welcomes Tanya Hammond

We wanted to take a few minutes to introduce you all to Tanya Hammond who has recently joined the Serian Team. She will be based down at Nkorombo Serian for the next few months during our busy Migration Madness Season.

Here is a brief bio from Tanya

“I'm a 4th Generation Kenyan passionate about animals, especially wildlife and birds, all things Kenyan especially marathon running. I was educated in Kenya and worked in the airline industry for 15 years (Olympic Airways, Emirates & British Airways) in Kenya and Uganda -  and have lived and worked in Uganda, Ghana, Zambia and Rwanda where Iacquired knowledge of the tourism and service industry across Africa. Speaks fluent Swahili, English, Greek, and has a basic understanding of Punjabi and French. I am naturally a happy person (Masai name Nashipae - happy one) who enjoys life and endless cups of Kericho Gold tea. I adore the outdoors, which is why I love doing this job, no two days are ever the same and getting to work in such a spectacular setting is very special - you cannot beat an African sunset at the end of a hard days work. You also get to see some crazy stuff even when you're in camp, I remember watching two male Hippos fighting in the river, and the sound was mind blowing.

In my spare time I am a marathon runner, and trying to maintain a certain level of fitness whilst in camp can prove a little challenging, especially with the un-even terrain and of course the animals. But it is well worth the hassle! not many people get to run in such an amazing part of the world, and consider myself very fortunate to have the Masai Mara as my own back yard.”

Serian welcomes you and we look forward to the working alongside you in the next few months!
